Introducing galleries

March 9th, 2006 by Brad Lauretti, Gallery Manager

Here in New York all the baseball fans are getting ready, I mean crazy, for the new season. Believe it or not I am actually a Red Sox fan living in New York! It isn’t always easy to find the Red Sox on T.V. (unless they are playing the Yankees) so I asked hakia “Is there a bar in New York where I can watch the Red Sox?” I was happy to find a very reliable blog, from a well-known New York sportswriter, that listed a bunch of new places in Manhattan to watch my favorite team!

For those of you who are using hakia for the first time you might want to check out one of our unique features that we call “Galleries.” Try asking hakia for “Baseball“, “Red Sox“, or “Roger Clemens.” These are very familiar keywords that anyone might use when searching for the latest sports information on the web. Although hakia is a meaning-based search engine rather than keyword-based, for such basic queries categories are created by hakia that help organize, and expand the search results. This avoids the time consuming process of having to do multiple searches for images, statistics, or blogs, for what is essentially one search. You can find it all within the gallery!

Sometimes galleries will just appear, if you ask the gallery question, and sometimes they will appear as a suggestion in the blue dialogue box at the top of the search results page. Keep an eye out for these galleries throughout your search experience with hakia, and let us know what you think on the feedback page. Although we are still in the development phase, new galleries are being generated by hakia every day on a variety of different subjects. From Drugs and Diseases, to Famous People, and Musicians to The Civil War (USA). By the end of this year the galleries will provide the world with access to Encyclopedic knowledge from credible internet sources within search results. Sports fans should ask hakia about your favorite team, or player, and check out the gallery for The World Cup.

hakia may not be able to predict whether or not Roger Clemens will pitch again this season, or for whom, but you can read all about it from the best sports writers, and bloggers, or the official press release when he finally does decide. If he ultimately does decide to retire, the gallery will be a complete one-stop record of one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history.
