Celebrate the New Year and New Way of Searching with hakia Founders

new years As a New York search engine, we are planning to ring in 2007 the New York way — at Times Square! As THE PARTY organizers say, “New Year’s Eve at the symbolic center of New York City has become more than just a celebration – it’s a global tradition.”

hakia is proud to be a sponsor of the Times Square New Year’s Eve festivities. Would you like to join the founders of hakia at Times Square to usher in the New Year?

We will raffle off two pairs of VIP party tickets on December 22nd. To drop your name in the hat, give us feedback to improve our Beta engine.

At the VIP party, you will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and dancing with New York’s hottest DJ. Then, shortly before midnight, you will be escorted to an outdoor viewing area a few hundred feet from where the ball drops. It will be your chance to get up close and personal with a moment in history. Of course, you will be doing all that in great hakia company!

Postcards from the Road – Las Vegas

November 28th, 2006 by hakia Team

Prince and Manilow may have returned this week to the Strip, but it was the rock stars of the Search World who kept the joint jumping at WebmasterWorld’s PubCon at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The jam-packed three-day conference provided lots of food for thought and reinforced the primacy of Search in our lives. The hakia Team especially enjoyed the finale, Search Engine Smack Down, where the pioneers of Search talked about their new products and features.

The Sound of the Web Search

November 16th, 2006 by hakia Team

Ever find yourself humming along as you searched the Web? We did! Ever wonder what search would sound like if set to music? We did! The hakia team is filled with gifted musicians who get together to jam. Next thing you know—hakia Search Music, the Web’s first known search music CD, was produced.

The creators of Search Music ran random queries like “why did the chicken cross the road?” which happens to be the title of the first CD track, found a search result they liked and composed a song around it! We used ethnic instruments to highlight the richness and diversity of the Internet culture.

Every song is a different journey. We hope you join us in our musical search travels.

We would like to say a special thank you to Catherine Girardeau of PodTech who took the hakia Search Music journey and played two of our songs, along with our interview at the Web 2.0 Summit, in the PodTech weekly news podcast.

You can listen to the hakia interview in the podcast here. listen

GREETINGS FROM SAN FRANCISCO AND WEB 2.0 SUMMIT

San Francisco is warm and welcoming— inside and out! We are here at the Web 2.0 Summit where we are the diamond sponsor. We ventured to the West Coast to introduce ourselves. We hosted the first night’s dinner and played our video which went over well, as you can see from our pictures.

Next road stop— Vegas!
