No hype please!

February 27th, 2006 by Melek Pulatkonak, COO

Melek PulatkonakWe are moving on a path that many would consider “over ambitious” if not “crazy”. Our goal is to create a search engine that is more than a search engine – a computerized monster that knows everything, and can understand natural language using the same principles of the human mind. In addition, it will engage in a dialogue with the user like your favorite talk-show host. By the way, this is an irreversable direction of the search technology. We just want to make it a reality this year.

While commercialism is the ultimate whip of the innovation horse, it does not always do good deeds. When marketing runs infront of product development and innovation, the hype culture takes over. That is what we want to avoid here. We will bring you a “Wow” experience, but we are not there yet. Our BETA operation shows you a glimpse of what is about to come. We would rather say “see hakia when it evolves into a real monster.” It will happen this Summer.

Working hard and a new feature.

We at hakia have been hard at work creating a new search engine for you. We intend to go beyond the level of current search engines to really bring a new level of productivity to your search. If we weren’t such perfectionists here we could be happy with where we are. However, we are only at the beginning of implementing our technology. While many are already impressed with our results, what we have on our beta website only touches the “tip of the iceberg” of what we have planned. By the time of our launch in about six months our full potential will have been realized.

All of this while trying to avoid the wonderful weather we are having in New York from distracting us. Speaking of weather, we have just added a new feature. We now give a weather forecast if you ask a question similar to “How is the weather in New York?

We have decided it was time for our users to meet hakia team members and read their chatter about search and the evolving search engine.

We will be at the Search Engine Strategies Conference in New York next week. If you attend the conference, let us know what you thought about our ad.

Stay tuned for our musings…
